The MDOT Survey Support Unit will assist the surveyors in obtaining information on file with the department.
Information available from MDOT includes:
- Previous MDOT Survey Notes.
- MDOT's Land Corner Inventory.
- MDOT Design and As-Built Road, Structure and Right of Way plans.
- Older Survey Notes which are archived at the Record Center.
  - These may take more time to retrieve.
- Conveyance documents, ROW Deeds, Takes, Etc.
- MDOT's ArcGIS On-Line Portal
- Michigan Center for Shared Solutions Geographic Data Library

5.2 Control Research

Horizontal and vertical control monument data published by NGS is available online at the NGS Datasheet Page. Any NGS control used or searched for must be updated on the NGS website, using the Submit Recovery section on the NGS Datasheets Page.

Witnesses for government corners, plats, condominiums and certified surveys are generally available at the county courthouse.

Utility information can be obtained by contacting the TSC Utility Coordinator. The Utility Coordinator can provide a list of utility companies with contact information broken down by control section for the project location.
