Happy New Year! To kick off 2026, we are excited to announce we will be upgrading AASHTOWare Project from version 5.02 to 5.04 within the next few months. This upgrade will enhance overall system performance along with 100+ enhancements across all modules of AASHTOWare Project. We will detail the new enhancements over the next few newsletters once the upgrade is completed.
Hopefully, this exciting news will keep your spirits warm, during these bone chilly temperatures as we get ready for the upcoming construction season.

Once unattached items are added to contract project categories, they can be tracked on daily work reports but are not recognized as official contract items by the system and cannot be included in a contract payment until they are formally added to the contract through a change order and the change order is approved. 		+	AASHTOWare Project calculates subcontract value using two key sources:

		+	For subcontract items, the system gives users a lot of flexibility. Instead of requiring the full contract unit price, you can enter partial values or adjust the unit of measure to better reflect the nature of the subcontract work. For example, if there is a subcontracted consultant for concrete testing, you can select any concrete item from the contract, set the subcontract item’s unit to something like “Dollars”, set the subcontract price to $1 and enter the quantity of dollars needed. The subcontract item will then have the total value of their testing services — no need to force it into a cubic yard or square yard structure just because the parent contract item uses one.
