MATERIALS

Electrical and Lighting Conduit

Effective with the February 6, 2015, letting and beyond, a special provision will be placed in all projects that will allow the use of conduits listed and appropriately labeled by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), as recognized by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The conduit specification requirements have not changed, this change simply allows other NRTLs to test and certify the conduit to Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) standards.

Labeled conduit is defined as having the certification mark (as shown on the following NRTL website for each laboratory) of the testing laboratory printed, stamped or otherwise physically on the conduit. The NRTLs can be found at the following website:

https://www.osha.gov/dts/otpca/nrtl/nrtllist.html

The frequently used special provision is labeled as 12SP-918A-01.
