Structural Fabrication Quality Manual
The Bureau of Bridges and Structures Construction Section has revised its Structural Fabrication Quality Manual. The manual is referenced in the MDOT Materials Quality Assurance Procedures Manual and will be located on the Structural Fabrication Unit’s (SFU) website. A brief description of the revisions is presented below.
Chapter 1 (General Information):
- Formatting, acronym, and grammar corrections
- Updates for 2020 spec book
- Added local agency information
- Added new definitions
- Updated contact information
- Revised narrative report writing requirements
- Added fabrication flowchart, web links, and inspection file closeout process
Chapter 2 (Fabrication Inspection Procedures):
- Updates for 2020 spec book
- Added preamble
Chapter 6 (Buy America Guidance): New chapter for existing SFU BA Guidance that was updated for 2020 spec book.
Chapter 7 (Request for Information Process): New chapter for existing SFU RFI Process that was updated for 2020 spec book.
Chapter 8 (Nonconformance Process): New chapter for existing SFU NCR Process that was updated for 2020 spec book and clarified terminology.
Chapter 9 (Nonconformance Policy): New chapter for existing SFU NCR Policy that was updated for 2020 spec book and clarified terminology.
Chapter 10 (Corrective Action Request): New chapter for newly developed SFU CAR Process.
Appendices:
- Added existing SFU Fabrication Inspection Flowchart that was revised to combine previous two flowcharts.
- Added existing SFU Concrete Standard Repair Program that was updated for 2020 spec book.
Annexes:
- Added existing MDOT Shop Drawing Review Process
